Collabrador

Explore Real-Time Multi-User Co-Creation Directly Inside Rhino

Design is better
together

Collabrador brings people together around one shared 3D design. Collaborate in Rhino, share Grasshopper results, and let others follow in a browser.

What it does

One live workspace for collaborative concept design.

Collabrador brings real-time collaboration to Rhino and Grasshopper. Architecture is rarely designed alone, but the early digital design process often is. One person drives the model, while the rest of the team reacts through meetings, screenshots, messages, or file exchanges. Collabrador changes this by creating a shared live workspace where multiple people can explore, edit, and develop ideas together.

The plugin is focused on concept design: the phase where creativity, speed, and team understanding matter most. It helps teams test options directly, learn from each other, and build decisions through participation instead of observation.

Beginners can join the process and immediately understand what is happening. Experts can use it for collaborative Rhino workflows, Grasshopper-based exploration, workshops, education, and design reviews.

Collabrador is not just about working faster. It is about making the act of designing more collective, more visible, and more alive.

Realtime RhinoThe core

Work in one shared Rhino model, live.

Details

Collabrador turns Rhino into a shared design room. Multiple people can edit, explore, and react inside the same live session instead of watching one operator, exchanging files, or waiting for exported versions. This is the core feature: real-time co-design directly inside the modeling environment.

Grasshopper Overlay

Bring parametric logic into the shared session.

Details

A prepared Grasshopper setup can support the whole room with live parameters, calculations, variations, or feedback. This makes computational design part of the collaborative process instead of something one expert controls separately. Teams can explore intuition and logic in the same design conversation.

Playground

Share selected experiments publicly.

Details

The Playground is a public shared scene. Any participant can Publish everyone's contributions, and automatic seasons can also preserve live changes. Included work is shared under CC BY 4.0, credited to Collabrador Playground contributors. Contribute only material you can share on that basis. Read the contribution and reuse terms or report content.

Pinboard

Keep the conversation going after the session.

Details

The Pinboard gives shared sessions a place to live after the real-time work ends. It can collect design moments, feedback, invitations, references, and follow-up discussions. This is useful when a workshop, review, teaching format, or public experiment should not disappear when the live room closes.

Webviewer

Let others follow from any browser.

Details

The Webviewer lets people join the design process without Rhino installed. They can follow the live session from a computer or phone, which makes it useful for presentations, reviews, juries, teaching, and team communication. Not everyone needs to model in order to understand and participate.

Access Modes

Move from testing to private team work.

Details

Collabrador can start as an open experiment, but real collaboration often needs private rooms, controlled access, and team-based workflows. Access modes make it possible to use Collabrador in offices, courses, reviews, and temporary group formats without mixing every session into the public Playground.

Teamwork makes the dream work — someone had to say it.
FAQ

Quick answers.

How does Collabrador work?

Start or join a shared session and choose a geometry layer to share. When someone adds, moves, changes or deletes a shared object, Collabrador sends the update to the other participants’ Rhino models. Geometry outside the shared layer stays local.

What do participants need?

Authoring requires Rhino 8 for Windows, the Collabrador Grasshopper plugin and an internet connection. Guests with viewer access can follow an enabled session in a modern browser on a computer or phone, without installing Rhino. Network access uses outbound HTTPS and secure WebSockets on port 443.

What does the Grasshopper overlay share?

It shares the geometry a Grasshopper definition produces. One participant publishes the overlay at a time, and its results update for everyone. The definition and its component wiring stay with the author.

What happens when two people edit the same object?

Editing permissions and selection locks coordinate who can change an object. The shared workspace checks updates against the current object version before accepting them. Undo and Redo also respect shared ownership and the current model state.

Is our work private, and is it backed up?

Privacy depends on the workspace mode. Use a protected private workspace for private collaboration; Playground and Pinboard are public, and passwordless Free rooms provide weaker protection. Read the full Privacy & Legal information for details.

Room storage helps participants rejoin, but it is not a permanent archive or backup. Keep your own Rhino files. Collabrador is in controlled beta; use test copies while bugs, interruptions and resets remain possible.

How can we get Collabrador, and what does it cost?

Team and Workshop beta access can be requested at contact@collabrador.live. The Free plugin download link will be published once the distribution channel is finalized. Paid pricing and checkout are being finalized. The Plans page explains the current access options and limits.

Collective intelligence

AI can draft a hundred options.
Choosing — together — is still the craft.

Bring AI-assisted options, parametric studies or rough design ideas into one shared room. Review them together, question them and build on the directions worth keeping. Tools generate. Teams decide.
